My approach to teaching and mentorship is centered on developing students' critical thinking, self-directed learning, and professional readiness. I view learning as an active and purposeful process through which students construct knowledge, develop confidence, and build their identities as engineers. I emphasize principles-based learning, helping students organize knowledge around fundamental concepts rather than memorizing procedures. This approach supports transfer of learning, enabling students to apply what they learn across courses, disciplines, and professional contexts.Â
Through project-based learning, problem-solving, collaboration, and reflection, I connect engineering theory to real-world challenges and workforce needs. I am committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where students feel valued, challenged, and empowered to succeed. My teaching experiences across K-12 education, higher education, online learning, and community-based workforce development continue to shape my learner-centered approach to teaching and mentorship.
I have received formal training in engineering education, including coursework in teaching, learning, assessment, curriculum development, and cognitive science at Utah State University.
